Fast Show and Brian Pern star Simon Day has announced a short tour this autumn.

The comic will perform 13 dates in October showcasing four of his creations.

They will be chosen from: Billy Bleach, the Fast Show pub bore and star of 2003 witness protection comedy Grass; Geoffrey Allerton, the confirmed bachelor and unpublished Yorkshire poet; dangerous recidivist Tony Beckton; musical hall comedian Tommy Cockles; eco-warrior hardman Dave Angel; and Pern, the prog rocker and humanitarian

The news comes as BBC Four is killing off Pern, with co-creator Rhys Thomas presenting a 40-minute obituary show at 10pm on March 29.

Pern dies in a ‘Segway mistake’, and the tribute will show the remaining members of his band Thotch planning a benefit concert at the Royal Albert Hall for Segway Awareness.

Shane Allen, the BBC’s controller of comedy commissioning added: ‘This programme marks the tragic end of a once great musical pioneer. We will never forget you Barry Pern.’
