Jesse Armstrong creates media empire drama

Any similarities to Rupert Murdoch are entirely coincidental...

Peep Show co-creator Jesse Armstrong is heading to the States to oversee a new drama about an ageing media tycoon and his ambitious family.

HBO has ordered ten episodes of Succession, which stars Red and Bob Servant actor Brian Cox as  Logan Roy, as the tough head of both a global media conglomerate and a dysfunctional family.

Armstrong will serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer on the series, Hollywood bible Variety reports.

The drama relieves around Logan’s offspring, who sit on the board of directors of the media empire – some while pursuing a career in politics, others following a more fun-loving path,

Executive producers are Will Ferrell and Adam McKam, who will also direct the first episode.

Last week it was announced that Armstrong was starting a TV production company with his Peep Show co-creator Sam Bain and Channel 4's departing head of comedy, Phil Clarke.
