Lucy Beaumont to front Hull documentary

For new BBC arts season

Lucy Beaumont is to present a BBC documentary about her home town of Hull.

The BBC Two programme, My Hulltural Life, revolves around the city’s status as the UK’s Capital Of Culture.

It promises to look at the ‘cultural delights’ on offer and ask how the year will change the city in the future. The city council say the initiative has already raised £32million and created 350 jobs.

Former BBC New Comedy Award winner Beaumont has always been proud of Hull, saying ‘there’s a big heart and humour and imagination’ there. Her stand-up and her Radio 4 sitcom To Hull and Back also draw heavily on her the city’s personality.

The programme is one of a raft of BBC arts programming announced today, featuring the likes of Maya Angelou, Francis Bacon, Marlon Brando, Chrissie Hynde, Vera Lynn and Terry Pratchett.
