C4 buys US comedy Search Party
Channel 4 has brought the rights to US comedy Search Party to air on its All 4 on-demand service.
The complete series will be made available as a box set on Boxing Day.
Originally stripped over five nights on the TBS network last month, the show revolves around a group of four self-absorbed 20-somethings who come together when a former college acquaintance mysteriously disappears.
The American broadcaster yesterday renewed the show for a second series, and review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes says 89 per cent of critics gave positive write-ups.
Search Party features an ensemble of young comic actors including Alia Shawkat, John Early, John Reynolds, Meredith Hagner and Brandon Michael Hall.
Today’s deal is the first scripted acquisition for All 4, as it seeks to expand its programming. Charlie Palmer, managing editor for All 4, said: ‘Search Party feels both timeless and pertinent, and we’re delighted to be welcoming it into the All 4 family.’
Humphrey Black, of distributors Turner EMEA said: ‘Search Party is an enthralling, cutting edge dark comedy mystery that grants a fascinating insight into the lives of self-indulgent twentysomething Brooklynites as they embark on a journey of self-discovery.
‘We are incredibly proud of this show and excited to be partnering with All 4 to bring it to UK audiences’
