Comedians prepare a 'panto for our times'
Fresh Meat actress Charlotte Ritchie is to star in a new alternative comedy 'panto for our times', debuting in London this Christmas.
Ricky Whittington And His Cat is is described as a ‘mordant commentary on the teeming, rent-eating fume-spewing International Financial Centre/gentrifier’s theme park known as London’.
It will also star comics Rob Carter, David Elms, Ellie White along with actors Omar Ibrahim and Rosa Robson.
The script has been written by Liam Williams and his partner in the Sheeps sketch group, Daran Johnson, and it is being produced by Williams’ company Fight in the Dog. The outfit was set up to bridge the gap between theatre and comedy and previously produced the double Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee’s debut play Travesty and Twelfth Night With Comedians which featured Tim Key and Kieran Hodgson.
Ritchie has also appeared in Call The Midwife and the BBC Three comedy Siblings.
Ricky Whittington And His Cat will run at the New Diorama Theatre in Camden from December 10 to January 7.
