BBC plans Mrs Brown spin-off
Brendan O’Carroll’s alter-ego Mrs Brown is poised to front a new BBC One entertainment show.
All Round To Mrs Brown’s is a spin-off from the top-rated sitcom in which the comedy character will present a series of ‘fun-fuelled items’ from her fictional home.
Among them will be a ‘Mammy Award’ celebrating the best of British mothers – and the corporation has now put out an appeal for children to secretly nominate their mum.
Celebrity guests will also appear in a pilot now being made, but not intended for broadcast.
All Round To Mrs Brown’s, which is still a working title, is being produced by Hungry Bear Media, the company set up by Celebrity Juice producer Dan Baldwin.
The BBC say: ’In what will be an unmissable night, the UK’s favourite sitcom family will be opening the door to their home and inviting us in for a jam-packed night of entertainment.
‘In this brand new show for the BBC, Agnes and the family will be providing a star-studded line up, fun-fuelled items and surprises you won’t want to miss, including the chance to reward a very special Mammy.’
Last month, Mrs Brown's Boys was named the best British sitcom of the 21st century, beating The Office into second place.
And a live a one-off special episode attracted almost 9million viewers when it aired in July.
