Romesh Ranganathan to write his memoirs
Romesh Ranganathan is to write his memoirs.
He has signed a book deal with publishers Transworld to release the as-yet-untitled volume.
It comes on the back of Ranganathan’s Bafta nomination for the BBC series, Asian Provocateur, in which he travelled to Sri Lanka to explore his heritage.
Transworld commissioning editor Henry Vines said: ‘Romesh is a fantastic entertainer and a natural storyteller. We are all thrilled to be publishing his smart, insightful and extremely funny book, which captures all of the warmth and humour of his stand-up and the hugely entertaining family dynamics that made Asian Provocateur such a hit.’
Ranganathan, a former maths teacher who turned to stand-up in 2010, said: 'I am absolutely delighted to be writing this book.
‘I love the team at Transworld, and I hope to complete the project before my inevitable profile decline and humiliating return to teaching.'
Ranganathan’s other TV credits include Play To The Whistle, The Apprentice: You’re Fired!, and show It’s Not Rocket Science, alongside Ben Miller and Rachel Riley.
No release date has yet been announced for the book, which comes after Transworld signed a deal with Ranganathan’s agent, Flo Collins at Off The Kerb.
Ranganathan is currently on tour with his show Irrational. Dates.
