Kelvin McKenzie slates Victoria Wood
Sun columnist Kelvin McKenzie has prompted a storm of outrage after writing that he 'never found Victoria Wood remotely funny'.
Hundreds of people have taken to Twitter to express their distaste at his comments, coming two days after the comedian died from cancer at the age of 62 – causing his name to trend
Typical was Bryan Luffman, who said: 'What an awful excuse for a human being if you have nothing nice to say say nothing in these circumstances.'
Samantha Stewart posted: 'See Kelvin McKenzie is making friends again today…what an absolute tit..I wouldn't use The Sun to wipe the dog's arse, never mind my own.'
Adrian Clark said: 'Kelvin McKenzie, a man who has contributed nothing of value to the world, is at least consistent.'
McKenzie, who edited The Sun between 1981 to 1984,chose his column today, to decree: 'Clearly very sad to die from an unspecified chance and perhaps I'm alone out there, but I never found Victoria Wood remotely funny.'
The comment was posted on The Sun's website this morning, but has since been removed from his online column.
