Chris Morris is developing a new movie
Chris Morris is making a new film, it has been revealed.
The satirist is developing a movie with Film4, which previously financed his award-winning Four Lions.
Since that was released in 2010, he has been keeping a typically low profile other than directing four episodes of Veep – appearing in one as a newsreader – and interviewing Stewart Lee on camera as part of the latter’s Comedy Vehicle series. He also appeared in the film The Double.
Details of the Brass Eye creator’s new project have not been released, but Film4 revealed they are working with him as they announced an increase in their annual budget from £15million to £25million.
Morris was named in a list of filmmakers the company is developing movies with, including Steve McQueen, Mike Leigh, Lenny Abrahamson and Yorgos Lanthimos.
Meanwhile, Film4 has also signed a deal with FP Films, the production company set up by The Inbetweeners creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, for four new comedy feature films.
Film 4 has netted 22 Bafta and 15 Oscar nominations this seasons for films including 45 Years, Amy and The Lobster.
