Mae Martin announces a new music career
Mae Martin is to embark on a music career.
The comedian has announced that their ‘earnest music album’, entitled I’m A TV is coming soon.
The former Taskmaster contestant and creator of the Channel 4 comedy Feel Good has already released a short sample of the first single, Good Dream, on Instagram,
Martin previously collaborated with friend and fellow Canadian comedian Carolyn Taylor on her 2023 music track Love Is Pain, and London-based singer-songwriter Charles Watson’s Going Places, released the previous year.
In an interview with The Line Of Best Fit at that time, Martin said: ‘I'm always in the audience of [music] shows being like, "Maybe the guitarist will get sick and they'll be like, does anyone here know how to play the guitar?!’" And I’ll get up and then everyone will be like, "Oh my God". Like, that’s my fantasy.’
Watson told the comic 'you should totally be making records’ to which they replied: ‘I'd love to. I just constantly imagine what other comedians are gonna think. And if they're gonna think I'm a loser. Maybe at a certain point, you gotta do what makes you feel good.
'I definitely have an urge to write a few songs and secretly write them in my house and sing them. It feels so daunting and enigmatic the whole process [of making an album].’
