An Extraordinary decision...
Disney+ has cancelled its comedy Extraordinary, set in a world in which everyone over 18 has superpowers.
The streamer has confirmed that the show, created by Northern Irish writer Emma Moran, would not be coming back for a third series following reports in the US.
Made in London, the comedy revolved around Jen, played by Mairead Tyers, who still hadn’t received her gift at 25 and was 'adrift in a big, confusing world’.
Comic Luke Rollason played Jizzlord, a shapeshifter who was stuck as a cat for several years, with Sofia Oxenham and Bilal Hasna as Jen’s flatmates.
Julian Barry, Robbie Gee, Ardal O’Hanlon and Derry Girls star Siobhán McSweeney were among those who also appeared int he first two seasons.
A spokesperson for Disney+ told trade publication Variety: ‘Extraordinary will not be returning for a third season on the service. We're so proud of the hilarious, award-winning series brought to life by the incredibly talented British and Irish cast and crew, our production partners at Sid Gentle Films, and the exceptional writing talent of creator Emma Moran.’
The second series ended in March last year with a cliffhanger, which now remains unresolved.
