Comedy names cast in Harlan Coben thriller
A raft of familiar comedy names including Ruth Jones, Jon Pointing and Amy Gledhill have been cast in the next Harlan Coben thriller to be made for Netflix.
Friday Night Dinner’s Tracy-Ann Oberman, Annette Badland from Ted Lasso and Ingrid Oliver from the Watson & Oliver sketch duo are also in the cast of Run Away.
James Nesbitt, pictured with Coben, takes the lead role of Simon, who has the perfect life until his eldest daughter Paige (Ellie de Lange).
When he finds her, vulnerable and strung out on drugs in a city park, he finally has the chance to bring his girl home. But it turns out she’s not alone, and an argument escalates into shocking violence.
In the aftermath, the logline says, 'Simon loses his daughter all over again, and his search to find her will take him into a dangerous underworld, revealing deep secrets that could tear his family apart forever'.
Minnie Driver, Alfred Enoch and Lucian Msamati also have lead roles in the eight-part series, set to start filming in Manchester and the North West of England this month.
As with previous adaptations of Harlan Coben novels Fool Me Once and Missing You, the story will be relocated from the US to the UK.
Coben, who will serve as
executive producer through his company, Final Twist Productions, said: ‘The cast is an embarrassment of riches. I can't wait to start filming.’
Lead writer Danny Brocklehurst added: ‘With Run Away's emotionally universal storyline and great cast, hopefully we can give audiences another fantastic ride’
Made by Quay Street Production , Run Away is one of 13 titles from bestselling Coben to be produced for Netflix.
