Dave Gorman’s new TV show, Modern Life Is Goodish starts on the satellite channel tonight at 10pm The six-part series is a mix of stand-up and documentary comedy and promises ‘a new take on the things we normally take for granted’.
LIVE IN LONDON: It’s the final two heats of the BBC Radio New Comedy Award at Up The Creek in Greenwich tonight and tomorrow... with the hundreds entrants helpfully pre-screened by patient talent-spotters to ensure a suitable standard!

TV: Jason Byrne’s sitcom Father Figure makes the leap from radio to BBC One. In it the comic plays a family man who tries to be the best dad he can while his wife – played by Karen Taylor – works full time. It rarely works out well. The cast also includes Pauline McLynn, Michael Smiley and Dermot Crowley. BBC One, 10.35pm
RADIO: It’s the return of Newsjack, Radio 4 Extra's topical sketch show with an open-door policy for writers who want to send in submissions. Justin Edwards hosts once more. Radio 4 Extra, 10.30pm
Friday September 20
LIVE IN NOTTINGHAM: The city’s nine-day comedy festival kicks off today. Bill Bailey’s Qualmpeddler tour is the big name, but look out too for acclaimed shows from Romesh Ranganathan, Eric Lampaert, Noise Next Door and Pete Johannson along many others.
TV: It’s Channel 4’s 80s night, with Adam Hills hosting a revival of Fifteen To One at 8pm, followed by another 8 Out Of 10 Cats Do Countdown and Alan Carr’s Chatty Man.
