West End Edna
Barry Humphries is taking his farewell tour Eat, Pray, Laugh! to the West End.
Dame Edna Everage, Sir Les Patterson and Sandy Stone will take a two-month residency at the London Palladium from November 13.
Humphries, 78, announced last year that he was quitting live performance after a 60-year career.
And in a new interview with The Times, he said: ‘As I approach the autumn of my life, I take it a bit more quietly. I couldn't ever relinquish what I do, but it's certainly farewell to touring. I'll do one-offs on television and that kind of stuff. I'll continue to work till I drop.’
Eat Pray Laugh! will be directed by Australian Simon Phillips, whose credits include Priscilla Queen Of The Desert: The Musical.
The West End stint will follow performances at the Milton Keynes Theatre, the Wales Millennium Centre and the Edinburgh Festival Theatre that have already been announced.
Later next year, the Palladium will host Harry Hill’s X-Factor musical, I Can’t Sing.
