Rob Beckett: I'm quitting touring to spent time with my family
Comic plans a decade away from the road
Rob Beckett has said he’s quitting touring to spend more time with his family.
The comic says he’ll spend no more time on the road once his current stand-up tour, Giraffe, comes to an end next year.
He has two daughters, aged about seven and nine, with wife Louise. Despite being a big part of his comedy – especially his Parenting Hell podcast with Josh Widdicombe – he never publicly names them.
Of his decision to quit, Beckett told The Sun: 'I’ll still do stand-up and local clubs and charity gigs but I’m going to take a break from touring until the kids are 16/17.
‘Then I’ll do a big tour when they’re sixth form and when they go to uni, me and Lou are going to spend Feb and March in Australia bumming around. When I’m 50 I want to do a psychology degree.’
Last month Beckett stepped back from his Radio 2 show, although he has other broadcasting projects including Rob and Romesh Vs... with Romesh Ranganthan and panel show Smart TV, both for Sky.
