Anything Goes is based on a hit French series

Rob Beckett is piloting a new gameshow for Channel 4, based on a hit French format

Anything Goes is based on Vendredi Tout Est Permit Avec Arthur (On Friday, Anything Goes With Arthur) which has run for 194 episodes since 2011, with specials becoming a staple of Christmas and New Year viewing.

In each episode, host Arthur – a cartoonist whose real name is Jacques Essebag  – invites half a dozen celebrities to take part on a series of entertaining games,  including one on a huge set that tilts at 22 degrees

The format has already been sold to 23 countries, including the US where it was called Riot and ran for one season in 2014 hosted by comic Rove McManus, and Australia, where it was called Slide Show and was front by Grant Denyer.

Beckett is shooting his pilot at the same studios in Paris where the French version is made – and is being produced by Expectation, the company behind the Big Narstie Show.

The comic already hosts BBC One entertainment format  All Together Now and is set to host the video game show Rob Beckett's Playing for Time for Channel 4 later this year.
