Maisie Adam’s stand-up show Appraisal is to air on Sky Comedy.
The comedian’s latest tour show was filmed in Harrogate Theatre – in her home town – last month and will be broadcast some time in December.
She said: ‘On a cold January morning in 1994, after 32 hours of gruelling labour on behalf of my dear mother, I was born into this world.
‘I know I was only a minute old, but I remember it so vividly; my mother looked down at me, moved my weird haircut out of my eyes and proudly declared "One day, she’ll write a stand-up comedy special called Appraisal and it shall be available on Sky for all to see - providing you have Sky of course!"’
Last year, Adam joined Katherine Ryan for a League Of Their Own special with the Lionesses that aired Sky before the upcoming World Cup in Australia.
The broadcaster as today confirmed that Paul Chowdhry’s stand-up special Family-Friendly Comedian will also be airing on Sky Comedy in December – as Chortle reported earlier this year. His show was recorded at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London last month.
Chowdhry said: ‘At last, my Family-Friendly Comedian show is coming to TV! This show has toured around the world—even in Saudi Arabia—and I hope viewers will gather with family and friends to enjoy the fun together.
‘After a quarter of a century as a comedic performer, this brings me into mainstream entertainment, and hopefully the chance to finally bake cakes on TV.’
Both specials have been filmed by Drum Studios, where executive producer Andy Holland said: ‘We’re delighted to have produced these two very different but equally brilliant and hilarious stand-up specials and can’t wait for the Sky audience to see them.’
The shows are the latest in a string of stand-up specials ordered by Sky, including offerings from Stewart Lee, John Kearns, Lucy Beaumont, Alex Edelman and David Baddiel.
Adam’s special was directed by Julia Knowles and Chowdhry’s by Brian Klein. Both shows will also be available to stream on Now.
