Josh Pugh makes spoof sports documentary

To tie in with the Paris Paralympics

Josh Pugh has made a spoof high-end sports documentary for the BBC.

In I Am Darren the comic plays a fictional Paralympic tandem cyclist making his comeback at Paris 2024.

He said: ’It's really exciting to be able to make comedy about sport and friendship, what else is there in life, really? (Family, music, food, nature, material possessions).’

The comic, who has the eye conditions ocular albinism and nystagmus is also one of the hosts of Channel 4’s Paralympics coverage.

The ten-minute film was directed and co-written by Stu Richards, and made by his company Rockerdale Studios.

Richards said: ‘This is Darren’s story. Untold. Unsheathed. And we can’t thank him enough for choosing Rockerdale Studios to tell it.’

I Am Darren will air on BBC Three and iPlayer next Thursday, August 29.

Any money you contribute will directly fund more reviews, interviews and features – the sort of in-depth coverage that is increasingly difficult to fund from ever-squeezed advertising income, but which we think the UK’s vibrant comedy scene deserves.
