'It's better than the back end of a bus!'
Angela Barnes has been immortalised in a portrait – made entirely from scrap car parts.
It’s a stunt is to launch the new series of World’s Most Dangerous Roads on Sunday, starting off with Barnes travelling the Italian Alps with Rhod Gilbert.
The broadcaster commissioned David Badcock, a mixed-media artist from Brighton, to create the images.
He spent more than 110 hours, repurposing 150kg of used parts from five scrapped cars, incorporating over 1,000 individual nuts and bolts to make three celebrity portraits.
By using a car bonnet as a canvas, the industrial artist crafted likenesses of Joe Swash and Chris Kamara, as well as Barnes, each measuring 1.2m by 1.5m.
The comedian said: ‘Having your likeness crafted from car parts is quite something, though it's more flattering than them using the back end of a bus!
‘Dave has managed to capture the essence of each of us using scrap car parts – that's just extraordinary. It was so much fun being part of this project, and now I can't wait for the world to see what we got up to on our adventures on the upcoming series.’
