Glee's Leeds venue to open on March 28
Tom Davis, Dylan Moran and Michelle De Swarte among the line-up
The new Leeds branch of The Glee comedy club will open on March 28, it has been announced.
Opening weekend acts include TV stars Tom Davis, Dylan Moran (pictured) and Michelle De Swarte as well as circuit favourites Brennan Reece and Fin Taylor.
Glee founder Mark Tughan said: ‘The countdown is on to our Leeds launch. The venue is looking incredible, and we’ve curated a stellar line-up of act.
The 400-capacity venue is on Albion Street, where a Jongleurs comedy club stood until 2015, two years before the whole chain collapsed.
The Glee opened its first venue in Birmingham in 1994 and expanded to permanent venues in Cardiff, Glasgow and Nottingham, plus regular gigs in Oxford. However, its Nottingham venue closed in 2023.
The Comedy Store opened a Leeds venue in 2003, but it closed after less than a year, with owner Don Ward concluding the club was too large for demand.
