Richard Curtis and Ben Elton guest on his Cunningcast

Sir Tony Robinson is to reunite with  Blackadder writers Richard Curtis and Ben Elton in the new series of his histpru podcast.

The new run of Cunningcast will four episodes about the classic comedy which made his name, with the others featuring music composer Howard Goodall and comedian and Blackadder superfan, David Mitchell.

It comes after the Baldrick actor fronted a 40th anniversary feature documentary for UKTV Gold last year, based around the lost pilot episode.

Sir Tony, also known for his 20-year stint on Channel 4's Time Team and Tony Robinson’s Marvellous Machines for UKTV, returns for the new series of Cunningcast on February 8

He said: ‘It's a pure delight to be able to explore more of the wonderful histories of things that I am curious about with some of the smartest guests around, and some of my dearest friends.’

Topics covered will include

  • From aristocratic dining centrepieces, to kids’ party favourites – a wobbly history of jelly

  • Dr Who at 60:  exploring the history of Britain’s most famous time traveller with Ace aka Sophie Aldred.  

Melissa FitzGerald, the producer of the series for Zinc Audio, said: ‘We’re busy building on the success of the first series and amping up production with lots more filmed content more interaction with the Cunningcast community, we can’t wait to share these episodes with Cunningcast fans.'
