Succession, The Bear and Beef dominate the Emmys

75th awards handed out

Three high-pressure comedy-dramas – Succession, The Bear and Beef – dominated last night’s 75th Primetime Emmy Awards .

Succession and The Bear tied with six wins each, with Beef getting five in their respective category in the drama, comedy and limited series 

Succession scooped for best drama with  Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook winning lead actor and actress gongs,  Matthew Macfadyen for his supporting role,  Jesse Armstrong for writing and Mark Mylod  for directing. 

The Bear won outstanding comedy for its first season, with Jeremy Allen White scooping the  lead actor awards and  Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Ayo Edebiri  supporting ones. Creator Christopher Storer also won for writing and directing.

Quinta Brunson won the lead actress Emmy in this category for Abbott Elementary.

Beef won outstanding limited series with its lead Steven Yeun and Ali Wong also going home with awards, plus creator Lee Sung Jin scooping two for writing and directing.

Last Week Tonight With John Oliver won best scripted variety series and outstanding writing in the same category, while The Daily Show With Trevor Noah won won best variety talk series

But some Brits missed out. Brett Goldstein and Hannah Waddingham had been nominated for supporting actor and actress in a comedy for Ted Lasso and Sharon Horgan had been nominated for lead actress in a drama series and best writing in a drama series for Apple TV+’s Bad Sisters.
