John Robins quits his pub-based podcast

The Moon Under Water now hosted by Robbie Knox

John Robins has stepped away from his pub-based podcast The Moon Under Water.

The comic is to be replaced by Robbie Knox – YouTuber and co-host of JaackMaate’s Happy Hour – who will front the show with Taskmaster edit producer Dan Trelfer.

Robins created the series in 2021 and has hosted more than 100 episodes, which have been downloaded 4million times.

Knox said: ‘Since I appeared on the show as a guest, The Moon Under Water has been one of my favourite podcasts, so I’m delighted to be taking over. I can’t wait to start releasing episodes and I look forward to the deluge of social media posts from people telling me how much they preferred John.’

Rosie Holt, Lloyd Griffiths, Robin Ince and Tim Lovejoy will be among the first names to join the new series, which will comprise two episodes a week: the interview about the perfect boozer, followed by a listener-focussed bonus episode.

The Moon Under Water was the title of a 1946 essay by George Orwell describing his ideal pub,  and the name has been adopted by Wetherspoons for 13 of its locations.
