Still No.1 in the UK

Chortle has more British visitors than any other comedy website

Chortle has retained its position as the No1 comedy website in Britain.

Newly released figures show that this website received 482,000 visits from the UK in May.

That’s 83,000 more than our nearest rival, the British Comedy Guide, and more than nine times as many as the 53,000 visits to Beyond The Joke.

The British Comedy Guide has more visits overall, but only around half of them are from the UK, according to figures from SimilarWeb, whereas 75 per cent of Chortle’s visitors are from this country.

Exclusive stories we broke in May included the fact that This Country star Michael Sleggs revealed that he was dying; that the BBC had axed Martin Clunes's comedy Warren and that Sara Pascoe is to host a show in which comedians deliver stand-up in the guise of a lecture. We also provided unrivalled in-depth coverage of the Alternative Comedy Now conference a the University of Kent and reviewed more than 20 shows at the Brighton Fringe.

The British Comedy Guide say that according to their Google Analytics data, 'rather than SimilarWeb's forecasting technology', 75 per cent of their readers are from the UK.
