A plug for Arthur Smith

Comic hailed by Bath Comedy Festival

Arthur Smith has been presented with the fifth annual Bath Plug Award for significant achievement or contribution to comedy.

The award – a specially engraved golden bath plug – has previously been won by Terry Jones, Peter Richardson, Barry Cryer and Rachel Parris.

It is awarded by the Bath Comedy festival, whose director Nick Steel was joined on stage by comedy historian Jem Roberts for the presentation.

  Steel who said the award was ‘also a personal thank you for all the years of laughter and support, as a friend and as a patron of the festival’.
