Sofie Hagen announces 2019 tour
Sofie Hagen is reviving her award-winning first solo show for a new tour to mark the launch of her debut book.
The comedian and podcaster will be performing 12 nights of Bubblewrap which scooped her the Edinburgh Fringe Best Newcomer Award in 2015, from April 26 to June 9 next year.
It is the first time the show – in which Hagen tell of how she learned to love her body, Westlife fan fiction and stories about one-night-stands, a psych ward and car chases – has toured the UK.
During the tour she will also read from her new book Happy Fat, described as ‘a manifesto for happiness and fat liberation’ and take questions from the audience.
Hagen has just completed filming a series of Comedy Central shorts, Sofie’s Sex Stories, probing the sex lives of fellow comedians. She hosts the Made Of Human and Secret Dinosaur Cult podcasts and was one of the co-founders of The Guilty Feminist podcast.
She said: ‘I'm very excited to take Bubblewrap and Happy Fat on tour. Bubblewrap is a stand-up show about how I first learned to love my body – Happy Fat is my first ever book and it's about why it's fucking OK to be fat and it's where I'm at right now with fat positivity.
‘The tour will be a mix of stand-up show, book reading and Q&A, a wonderfully balanced mix of funny, emotional, authentic and silly. Oh, and I'll bring a bunch of books as well.’
