ITV confirms The Imitation Game

With Alexander Armstrong, Rory Bremner and Debra Stephenson

ITV has confirmed details of its new panel show based on impressions.

As Chortle first reported in October, mimics Rory Bremner and Debra Stephenson will be the team captains in The Imitation Game, which will run over seven 45-minute episodes.

Guests lined up to appear including Alistair McGowan, Jan Ravens, Jon Culshaw, Ronni Ancona, Anil Desai and Jess Robinson.

Typical rounds will require them to provide new voiceovers for old news footage, or sing one performer’s songs in the style of another.

It was devised by I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue producer Jon Naismith and former Goodie Graeme Garden, who together previously devised David Mitchell’s Radio 4 panel show The Unbelievable Truth. Executive producer Kenton Allen, of Big Talk Productions, said the pair were ’undisputed panel show kings’.

Saskia Schuster, ITV’s comedy controller, said the show’s appeal was the range of impressions, adding: ‘Ut's a rare thing for a show to potentially have Donald Trump, Mary Berry, Adele and Phillip Schofield as guests.’

The series will be filmed this month to be broadcast later in the year.
