Now a bolt-on for Prime subscribers

Stand-up on-demand service NextUp has signed a deal to make its comedy specials available via Amazon.

Shows from the likes of Tony Law, Richard Herring, Simon Munnery and Sean Hughes will now be available on Amazon Channels. which allows Prime members to add extra paid-for channels to their video service.

NextUp, which costs £3.50 a month, joins more than 40 other options including Discovery, Eurosport and ITV Hub as an optional subscription service for UK members.

The NextUp streaming service launched in November last  year, with a mix of existing DVDs and 40 original shows that it has filmed itself, releasing a new special every week.

Other comedians already on offer at www.nextupcomedy.com include Lou Sanders, Alfie Brown, Lloyd Langford, Brendon Burns and Marcel Lucont.

The company has previously signed a deal to put stand-up specials on Virgin Atlantic’s in-flight entertainment offering.

It also supports up-and-coming acts with a  Comics' Fund;  a  bursary of up to £3,000 to help stage live comedy events.  Most recently this was awarded to The Care Home Tour – which involves a troupe of physical and prop comics including include Phil Nichol and Adam Riches to entertain those afflicted with dementia.

Backed by venture capitalists, NextUp is valued at £1.6 million, and is looking for more investment.
