New programming boss for Comedy Central UK
Comedy Central has appointed a new head of its UK programming team.
Lucy Robinson, whose credits as producer include The Wrong Mans and Pramface, will be overseeing new commissions for the channel.
The broadcaster says it wants to make more shows in the UK, covering the gamut of ‘non-scripted comedy, entertainment formats, animation, local reversions of Comedy Central’s U.S. hits, such as Drunk History and scripted comedy.’
Jill Offman, managing director of Comedy Central UK, said: ‘Lucy has a strong, proven track record across all genres of comedy. Her experience with originating, executing and overseeing great shows means she is well equipped to help expand our comedy portfolio and we’re delighted to have her on board.’
At the same time, the former director of programming, Louise Holmes has been promoted and now has a convoluted corporate job title with 12 words in it: Vice-President, General Manager for Comedy Central UK, Northern and Eastern Europe
Offman said: ‘Louise has demonstrated time and time again her knack for spotting great British talent and shows which resonate with our audience.’
