Here is the first image of Richard Ayoade on the set of The Crystal Maze.

The adventure gameshow is returning to Channel 4 next month. with the IT Crowd star helping teams of five contestants navigate the Aztec, Medieval, Industrial and Future zones.

A batch of celebrity specials in aid of Stand Up 2 Cancer will also air later this year.

The series is filmed at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol, where a purpose-built maze spanning over 30,000 square feet has been created by the original Crystal Maze designer, James Dillon.

Ayoade's IT Crowd co-star Chris O'Dowd is about to star in US series Get Shorty – the first trailer for which was released yesterday here.
