Dave Chappelle has reportedly signed up to appear in Lady Gaga's remake of A Star Is Born.

The movie also stars Bradley Cooper as Jackson Maine, a country music star who discovers a talented unknown, played by Gaga, and is then eclipsed by her.

Chappelle will play a friend of Maine's, Deadline Hollywood reports.

 The movie – directed by Cooper –  also features comic Andrew Dice Clay in the cast, too.

Chappelle has recently made a return to the spotlight, thanks to a  trio of Netflix stand-up specials. 

This is the fourth film version of A Star Is Born, which was first made in 1937. Judy Garland's 1954 remake is the definitive version, while Barbra Streisand last tackled the idea in 1976.

A Star Is Born is currently being filmed and is set to be released In September next year.
