Fundraiser for cancer hosptial

The line-up has been announced for his year’s Comedy4Christies gig, raising money for the cancer hospital.

Comic  Phil Buckley said he started the fundraisers after the centre treated his girlfriend's aunt and grandmother within nine months of each other.

He said: ‘It is heartbreaking to see how full the car park gets and how many people it affects. Not only those that suffer but their families and friends.

‘I got feed up of saying I wish I could do something and realised I could do something, I could help raise money so they could continue to help so many people.’

This year will be the fourth for the fundraiser at The Lowry.

On the bill on May 21 are Alun Cochrune, Toby Hadoke, Archie Kelly, Doug Segal, Kiri Pritchard McLean and Buckley himself

The Christie  treats more than 40,000 people a year and has recently opened radiotherapy centres in Oldham and Salfor. It  costs £230 million a year and has a staff of 2,500  plus 300 volunteers.
