Injured Jim Tavare drops out of UK tour
Mike Gunn is to replace Jim Tavare on a stand-up tour, as he recovers from a near-fatal car crash.
Tavare had been due to join Stewart Francis, Justin Moorhouse and Jarred Christmas on The All-Star Stand-Up Tour which kicks off next month.
However he was badly injured in a head-on crash in Los Angeles, where he now lives, on March 6.
The comic, who plays a double bass in his act, spent a month in hospital including 15 days in intensive care, suffering severe injuries including multiple broken bones and two collapsed lungs. And although he has now returned home, he is in no state to travel to the UK and tour.
Producers hope he will be able to appear on the 2018 All-Star Stand-Up Tour instead.
Tavare said: ‘My hand ligaments completely detached from my wrist. The surgeons that put it back together say that I won’t ever be able to play the bass again, but I am determined to prove them wrong. I look forward to seeing you all for the 2018 tour!’
On joining this year’s tour, Gunn said in jest: ‘I can’t wait to get on the road with the rest of the team, and it just proves every cloud really has a silver lining.’
Here are the tour dates for the All-Star Stand-Up Tour.
