70 comedians on mammoth bill
More than 70 stand-ups are to take part in a ten-hour comedy marathon in Manchester next month.
Each performer will have just five minutes on the epic bill, which will be raising money for two charities: St Mary’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House, which offers accommodation for for families with children in hospital.
Event organiser Lukas Kirkby said: ‘Both of these causes are very dear to my heart as my niece was born at only 23 weeks in December and is still fighting and getting stronger every day thanks to the amazing staff at St. Mary's.
‘My sister lives in North Wales and so it's all thanks to the Ronald McDonald House charity that she could stay with her daughter and always be by her side.’
The event will take place at the Tribeca venue from 12:30pm to 11pm on May 7, with £5 wristbands sold on the door allowing comedy fans to come and go as they please.
Bolton comedian Simon Butterworth, best known for his appearance on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, is one of those taking part.
He said of the event: ‘It’s a great opportunity to be involved in something very special and unique. I know many of the comedians on the bill, we’re all excited and raring to go. It’s going to be a great day and we'll hopefully raise lots of money.’
