Just The Tonic launches new London comedy club

Romesh Ranganathan plays the opening night

Long-running comedy club Just The Tonic has announced a new London venue.

The chain will be opening a night at the Metronome nightclub in Whitechapel on September 26, with a gig headlined by Romesh Ranganathan.

It already operates in Metronome’s Nottingham venue, as well as running clubs in Leicester, Birmingham and Reading and a number of sites at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Just The Tonic owner Darrell Martin said:  'We are so pleased to see Just the Tonic arrive in London. We are looking forward to bringing our top end comedy shows to this high-spec, and perfect comedy venue.

‘After years of working together in Nottingham at the original Metronome, we know that together we can produce comedy shows that will soon be seen as a top-tier night out in the capital.

‘So excited for this new collaboration and putting on the best talent from around the world. Come and laugh at us.’

Just The Tonic – which is this year celebrating its 30th anniversary –  previously operated a night in Dingwalls in Camden, taking over from Jongleurs, and then moved to nearby Camden Stables before the pandemic forced it to close,

Metronome owner Craig Chettle  added: ‘Our partnership with Just the Tonic in Nottingham goes back years and so it was only natural for us to partner with them in London. Metronome is a 300-seater smack bang in the middle of bustling Whitechapel, offering an exciting line up of live performance, from comedy to music.’
