Student Comedy Awards 2024: Last semi-finalists named

People's Choice and wildcard places confirmed

The last semi-finalists in this year’s Chortle Student Comedy Awards can now be named.

Scooping the People’s Choice place is Fran Best, pictured, after winning more public votes than anyone else. She is a 26-year-old third year medicine student who took part in our heat in Newcastle, her home town where she is also studying.

And through as wildcard choices are the following 11 comics:

Adam Dorr from the Bristol heat: A 22-year-old drama and film student at the University Of Kent, Canterbury
Anna Rae from the Bristol heat: A 28-year-old from Dodge City, Kansas, studying a social data science PhD at Oxford
Asher Learmonth from the Edinburgh heat: A 23-year-old philosophy, politics, economics student originally from Sydney now studying at Edinburgh university.
Caitlin Powell from the first London heat: A 27-year-old art history PhD student at University College London
Cormac Sinnot from the Dublin heat: A fourth year law student, aged 22, at Trinity College
Dylan Clarke from the Dublin heat: A 26-year-old MSc economics student from the University of Amsterdam
Evan Hall from the York heat: A 23-year-old studying mathematics from the University of York
Foo from the Bristol heat: A 29-year-old studying for a DPhil in management at Oxford, originally from Johannesburg
Oliver Moore from the first London heat: A 23-year-old politics student at Kings College London.
Ralph Balfe: A 27-year-old doing a masters in psychoanalytic studies at Trinity College Dublin
Rosie Brown from the Bristol heat: A 19-year-old geography student at Bristol University

They join heat winners Alex Lee, Jack Simmonds, Jade Kelly, Jake Stodgen, James Clark, Leo Hincks, Lorcan Jeffreys, Maxine Wade, Michael McKenzie, Miles Greenway, Mohaiman and Sully Jones.

The semi-finals will take place at the Bloomsbury Theatre Studio in Central London on May 2 and 15. Tickets are available here.
