CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM: A day after it aired in the States, the Elmo-throttling Larry David returns for the 12th and final season of his acclaimed comedy, in which his intolerance to compromise always seems to trigger a catastrophic chain of events. Sky Comedy, 9pm
G'WED: Described as 'an uplifting, heart-warming and hilarious portrayal of teenagers today', ITV's new comedyG'wed delves into the working-class culture of "surviving with a sense of humour' in Liverpool. It revolves around Reece, described as a superficially misbehaving, potty-mouthed lad, who constantly surprises with his knowledge or maturity, and the ferociously determined Aimee. Starring Leanne Best, Louis Emerick, Sunetra Sarker and a host of new talent, the comedy drops on ITVX today. Here's a preview:
KATHERINE RYAN: PARENTAL GUIDANCE: The comic - who loves reality shows like Keeping Up With The Kardashians -lets the cameras into her own home life with her children in this new series, while also meeting people with their own firm views about parenting. In episode one Ryan meets Luisa Zissman, who urges her to put herself first, as well as chatting to fellow comedians London Hughes and Stephen Bailey. Read an interview with Ryan about the show here. RICHARD OSMAN'S HOUSE OF GAMES: Comics Glenn Moore and Thanyia Moore - no relation - return for another 'redemption week', pitting their knowledge against former newsreader Michael Buerk and wildlife presenter Kate Humble, BBC Two 6pm

BILLY CONNOLLY DOES… A new series of the show that mixes old clips of the Big Yin's stand-up with chats shot in and around his Florida home. This first of three episodes looks at Scottish pride - from terrible folk sings that make no geographical sense, to Brigadoon and tartan pompousness. Gold, 9pm
REEL HISTORIES: BLAZING SADDLES Radio 4 Extra marks the 50th anniversary of the world premiere of Mel Brooks's spoof western with a repeat of this documentary, first aired in 2003. Radio 4 Extra 8pm
Friday February 9
TED: This prequel to the comedy film franchise is set in 1993 when Ted's moment of fame as a talking teddy bear has passed. He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett (Max Burkholder) and his family. In the opening two-parter, Ted (Seth MacFarlane) is made to go to school with John and immediately decides to get expelled, leading him and John to buy drugs…Sky Max, 9pm
