ITV renews The Stand Up Sketch Show
ITV2 has ordered a sixth series of The Stand Up Sketch Show to air later this year.
Eight new half-hour episodes will feature comics performing their routines on stage, before shifting into a reconstruction acted out in sketch form.
Makers Spirit Studios did not confirm any names for the new run, but previous episodes have featured the likes of Joel Dommett, Judi Love, Iain Stirling and Babatunde Aleshe as well as up-and-coming comedians. Pictured is Sharon Wanjohi on the last series.
To further encourage emerging talents, the producers will be offering newer comics a paid set at live stand-up nights they will be running at Up The Creek comedy club in Greenwich, South London, to help prepare them for TV work. Participants will collaborate with the show's writers to develop their sets.
Executive producer Matt Campion said: ‘To get a second series these days is a huge achievement, so to be going into our sixth series of the show is an incredible privilege. It is also a testament to the amazing team and talent that work so hard to bring the funny to our screens year on year
As well as airing on ITV2 and streaming on ITVX, The Stand Up Sketch Show has also been licensed to Sweden, Israel and the Middle East.
Free tickets to the live shows are available from Standing Room Only.
