Jimmy Tarbuck admits hit-and-run

Comedian, 83, crashed into a row of parked cars

Jimmy Tarbuck has admitted being involved in a hit-and-run, after crashing into a row of parked cars.

The 83-year-old comedian did not report the accident in New Malden, Surrey at about 3.30pm on May 15. But he was caught on a doorbell camera driving his green Lexus away.

Tarbuck did not appear in front of magistrates yesterday but pleaded guilty to the offences by post, the Daily Mail reported. He was fined £716, plus £396 in costs and victim surcharge, and  given five penalty points on his licence.

Samantha Cobb, chairman of the magistrates, said: ‘The bench fully accept he is full of remorse and is deeply apologetic. We accept this was utterly out of keeping with his character.’

The accident happened  near Tarbuck’s  £5.5million Kingston-upon-Thames home, a few days after the funeral of his sister Norma.
