Sara Pascoe to headline Latitude's comedy arena
Sara Pascoe has been announced as the first comedy headliner at next year’s Latitude festival.
Organisers also revealed that the music programme will be led by Duran Duran, Kasabian, Keane and London Grammar.
Pascoe had been due to perform at this year’s festival but had to pull out due to illness.
She said: ‘Absolutely buzzing with excitement to be returning to the comedy arena. Instead of hibernating this winter I’ll be glittering my face, tie-dying my socks, and getting festival ready!’
Finalists in next year’s Chortle Student Comedy Award - which opens for entries in the new year – will also be playing the comedy arena.
And last year’s So You Think You’re Funny? winner, Samira Banks, will also get a slot at the festival, which takes place in Henham Park in Suffolk from July 25 to 28 – a week later than usual.
Other comedy names have yet to be announced.
Melvin Benn, Latitude’s festival director, said: ‘Having Duran Duran, Kasabian, London Grammar, Keane, and Sara Pascoe leading the lineup at this year's Latitude Festival truly epitomises our vision for a diverse and dynamic programme.
‘Each performer brings their unique energy and style to the bill, promising an unforgettable experience for our audience.’
Other musical acts named in the first line-up announcement are Khruangbin, Nile Rodgers & Chic,Orbital, Rag’n’Bone Man, Rick Astley The Mary Wallopers, Reverend and the Makers and newer bands Picture Parlour, Mary In The Junkyard and University, punk's most promising up-and-comers join the bill.
