Radio 4's The Skewer goes visual

New screen version of Jon Holmes's satirical mash-up show

Jon Holmes’s satirical Radio 4 comedy The Skewer has created its first visual episode.

An 18-minute screen version of the award-winning mash-up show has been released on BBC iPlayer.

It arrives as series 10 lands on Radio 4 –  with episode two airing at 11.15pm tomorrow night – and features sketches about Covid, the fast-moving parade of Tory Prime Ministers and climate change, among others.

Julia McKenzie, commissioning editor for comedy and entertainment at BBC Radio 4 said: ‘The Skewer is a deserved winner of a remarkable number of awards and critical acclaim, and as you’d expect the visualisation is equally bold, distinctive and mesmerising.

‘I can’t wait for existing fans to take a look as well as a brand new audience discovering this highly creative and innovative podcast.’

Since its launch in 2020, The Skewer has been named best comedy at the Radio Academy’s Aria Awards for three years running and named best comedy at this year’s British Podcast Awards.

The film is now available on iPlayer.
