Big names play a memorial gig for Gareth Richards
Jason Manford, Milton Jones, Tim Vine are among the comedians who will pay tribute to fellow stand-up Gareth Richards at a memorial gig on Monday.
Proceeds from the show will go to Mind UK at the request of Gareth's family. Organisers say: ‘The comedy world has pulled together to remember him the way he would have wanted.’
Richards died on April 7, at the age of 43, following a late-night car crash on the M25 the previous week.
Also taking part on Monday’s show will be Andrew White, Junior Simpson and Jo Enright. The night will be compered by Geoff Whiting, who was also his agent through his company Mirth Control.
The benefit will be at the Big Belly Comedy Club – formerly called the Vauxhall Comedy Club – in South London on Monday, and tickets – priced £25 – are available here.
Last week it was announced that the show Richards’ was due to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe has been turned into a benefit for his family.
The 4pm slot he had booked at Whistlebinkies Bar on the Free Fringe will now be given over to a different line-up each day, with Adam Kay, Nick Helm, Iain Stirling, Jo Caulfield and Marcus Birdman among those confirmed to perform.
All proceeds from the collection at the end of the show will go to the trust fund set up for this two sons, aged 11 and 13, which has already received more than £45,000 in crowdfunding donations.
