Scott Capurro joins Jim Davidson's streaming platform
Scott Capurro is joining Jim Davidson's streaming comedy service.
The American comedian will host a weekly topical show on Ustreme, offer his ‘no-holds-barred opinion’ on events in his homeland.
This Week In The US will be streamed every Thursday, starting today, and follows a similar format to Jim Davidson’s This Week, in which the controversial comic offer his take on UK news.
Davidson, who first met Capurro at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014, said: ‘He is one of the few comedians around who genuinely makes me laugh. He’s absolutely hilarious and I have so much respect for him for daring to go where others fear to tread with his jokes.
‘He’s just fantastic and we’re delighted he’s doing a weekly show for Ustreme.
San Francisco-born Capurro is known for his deliberately provocative stand-up. He won best newcomer at the 1994 Edinburgh Fringe for his show Risk Gay, and frequently tours the UK.
His TV credits include hosting the BBC’s Gaytime TV and That Gay Show, and numerous panel shows and stand-up programmes. he has been a regular panelist on The Wright Stuff and more recently on GB News programmes such as Headliners and Ministry Of Offence.
In the 1990s, Capurro had a role in the Mrs Doubtfire movie and voiced Beed Annodue in Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace.
Ustreme offers stand-up specials from old-school comics like Davidson, Freddie Starr and Roy Chubby Brown and programme such as the panel show Left Right And Centre, hosted by Miles Crawford featuring comics including John Moloney, Bobby Davro and Cerys Nelmes. It recently launched a talent hunt for the next Jim Davidson.
