Brits lined up for mammoth Netflix comedy festival

130 of the world's top acts in LA extravaganza

Netflix has announced the mammoth line-up for its delayed, star-studded comedy festival.

Eddie Izzard, Michael McIntyre, Jimmy Carr, Gina Yashere, London Hughes, Russell Howard,, Phil Wang and Mo Gilligan are among those representing the UK at the Netflix Is A Joke festival.

Katherine Ryan, Mae Martin and Nigel Ng are  also among the more than 130 comedians appearing at the 11-day event in Los Angeles.

It was originally scheduled for spring 2020, but will now take place across 25 venues from April 29 to May 8 next year.

Others taking part include Ali Wong, Amy Poehler, Amy Schumer, Aziz Ansari, Bill Burr, Chelsea Handler, Chris Rock, Conan O’Brien, Cristela Alonzo, Dave Chappelle, David Letterman, Ellen DeGeneres, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, Jerry Seinfeld, John Mulaney, Jonathan Van Ness, Ken Jeong, Kevin Hart, Kevin Smith, Larry David, Margaret Cho, Maya Rudolph,  Mike Birbiglia, Mike Myers Patton Oswalt, Pete Davidson, Ray Romano,  Sandra Bernhard, Seth Rogen, Theo Von, Tig Notaro, Tim Robinson, Tina Fey, and Wanda Sykes

Robbie Praw, the director of stand-up and comedy formats for Netflix said: ‘ It's absolutely thrilling for Netflix to be hosting a comedy festival of this magnitude in Los Angeles.

‘We were so disappointed to postpone the event last spring and our line-up of comedians can't wait to bring much needed laughs to audiences in LA and around the world on Netflix.  Netflix Is A Joke Festival is going to give comedy fans the opportunity to see the greats and discover new voices  in one of the greatest cities in the world.’

Tickets for all festival events will go on sale on Friday at www.NetflixIsAJokeFest.com, with some advance sales earlier

Some shows from the festival – produced with produced with global concert giant Live Nation – will be recorded for later release on Netflix.

Highlights include:

DODGER STADIUM

  • Gabriel ‘Fluffy’ Iglesias (recorded)  Making LA history, Gabe will be the first stand-up comedian to ever perform at Dodger Stadium.  He will record his newest Netflix special in front of tens of thousands at his home team’s baseball park.

THE GREEK THEATRE

  • STAND OUT: An LGBTQ+ Celebration: (recorded) will be an all-star night of entertainment with Bob the Drag Queen, Eddie Izzard, Fortune Feimster, Gina Yashere, Guy Branum, James Adomian, Joel Kim Booster, Judy Gold, Mae Martin, Margaret Cho,  Marsha Warfield, Matteo Lane, Patti Harrison, River Butcher, Sam Jay, Sandra Bernhard,  Scott Thompson, Solomon Georgio, Tig Notaro, Trixie Mattel, Wanda Sykes and more to be announced soon.Larry David In Conversation
