Double Bafta win for Rhod Gilbert
Rhod Gilbert picked up two awards at the Welsh Bafta awards last night.
He was named best presenter for Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience, which also won for best factual series.
In a prerecorded acceptance speech for the virtual ceremony. he thanked the crew who made the series and BBC Wales ‘for repeatedly commissioning this series’.
In last year’s series, the ninth the comic turned his hand to care work, cake decoration and roadworking.
Thanking the care home where he filmed, Gilbert added: ’This means a lot to me, this one. My died in a care home soon after we filmed this – and this is for carers everywhere.’
The stand-up previously won the Bafta Cymru Award presenter award in 2015 for the edition of his Work Experience show when he took on the role of an RAF fighter pilot.
He had also been nominated in the single documentary category this year for his film Stand Up To Infertility – an award that eventually went to Strictly Amy: Crohn’s And Me, about professional dancer Amy Dowden.
