Sunday August 22

LITTLE HADLAM: Over the weekend, the Hertfordshire has been playing host to the Sign Of The Times Festival, featuring musical acts such as the Happy Mondays and Adam Ant. Now it's the turn of stand-up, with a star-studded Just The Tonic Comedy Shindig. Bill Bailey, Ed Byrne, Ivan Brackenbury, Kiri Pritchard-McLean, Lloyd Griffith, Milton Jones, Phil Nichol, Reginald D Hunter and Rich Hall all share the excellent bill. Tickets

Tuesday August 24

MANCHESTER: Jordan Brooks, the longest-ever holder of the Edinburgh Comedy Award, thanks to a little-known intervention from Covid, plays the much-loved XS Malarkey in the Bread Shed tonight. Compered, as always, by good-hearted Toby Hadoke. Tickets.

LONDON: The West End gets a new weekly comedy club tonight, called The West End Comedy Club. Thankfully the stand-ups are more inventive than whoever came up with the name for the shows at the Covent Garden Social Clube. Tonight's line-up is Adam Bloom, Alex Kealy and Patrick Monahan, and the future bills are here

Wednesday August 25

MANCHESTER: A new gig kicks off at the Victoria Baths, a listed Edwardian swimming pool and Turkish baths, with the appealing mix of Felicity Ward, Fern Brady and Seann Walsh.

Friday August 27

LEAMINGTON SPA: Ed Byrne - who's doubling up with a gig at the Coventry Empire tonight - headlines a grand Just The Tonic bill at the Assembly, alongside road warrior Tom Stade, steel-fist-in-an-iron-glove Laura Lexx and gregarious and fast-witted Dan Nightingale.

BRIGHTON: The Warren's series of beach gigs continues with the joyfully intense Felicity Ward and the very silly Olaf Falafel.

Saturday August 28

LONDON: Are you a Londoner who's missed out on the Edinburgh Fringe this year? Fear not, as 21Soho is serving up a whole festival in one day, with its Comedy Grotto. Ahir Shah, Alex Kealy, Bridget Christie, Fern Brady, Glenn Moore, Phil Wang (pictured)  and Shappi Khorsandi all perform works in progress in the all-dayer, which kicks off at midday.

LONDON: Milton Jones, Reginald D Hunter, Darren Harriott, and Kiri Pritchard-McLean ensure a great night's comedy at the Union Chapel in Islington. Tickets

WOLVERHAMPTON: Another good comedy bill under the big top at the Relight Festival boasts four very safe pairs of hands belonging to Gary Delaney, Lloyd Griffith, Shappi Khorsandi and Tom Stade. Tickets.
