Billy Connolly to narrate his autobiography
Billy Connolly will read the audiobook version of his first autobiography, it has been announced today.
His narration of Windswept And Interesting will be released at the same time as the hardback and e-book on October 14.
The comedian has been recording the audiobook over the summer from a Florida studio and ‘brings his unmistakable and instantly recognisable voice to the book,’ according to publishers John Murray Press.
Ellie Wheeldon, the company’s audio and digital editor a told trade website The Bookseller: ‘In narrating Windswept and Interesting Billy brings his stories to life in a way only he could do. It’s been a real transatlantic team effort to record during the pandemic and the result is a truly iconic audiobook. It’s a complete joy to listen to and we hope everyone will love it.’
John Murray Press managing director Nick Davies added: ‘For anyone who grew up listening to Billy’s stand-up shows on CD, cassette or vinyl, or anyone who has had the privilege of seeing Billy live on stage, this audiobook is an absolute treat. Windswept & Interesting is funny, moving and life-affirming and Billy reads it beautifully.’
When the autobiography was announced in February, 78-year-old Connolly said: ‘It's the first time I've done this. Other people have written about me - or for me - but this time it's just my own life in my own words.
The book will be published by John Murray Press imprint Two Roads, which also released the transcript of his stand-up routines, Tall Tales And Wee Stories, in 2019.
The audiobook is available for advance order from Amazon.
