Ken Cheng and Leila Navabi star in Don’t Blame Me, Blame My Brain

Comics Ken Cheng and Leila Navabi have taped a new CBBC comedy-science show entitled Don’t Blame Me, Blame My Brain.

In each of the ten episodes, Cheng is hounded by his talking, animated brain, to answer a ridiculous question,  such as: ‘What if the floor really was lava?’

The pair then investigate the answer with the help of experts and celebrities, including TV medic Dr Ranj Singh, Paralympic champion Dame Sarah Storey, England footballer Leah Williamson and lava expert professor Chris Jackson.

The show is written by comedians Joanne Lau, Robin Morgan and Danny Robins and is produced by Screen Glue which also made the similar CBBC series, Hey You, What If…?

Company founder Jasper James said: ‘ Don’t Blame Me, Blame My Brain shows just what can happen when you don’t actually overthink things!

‘Our brains quickly came up with the series concept when CBBC was looking for new ideas, and it was commissioned equally quickly. The result is a pacey, funny and alternative edutainment show, presented by exciting new talent.

‘We are thrilled the BBC has once again supported our unique approach to delivering rigorous science in surprising packages.’

Cheng, who studied maths at Cambridge before dropping out to become a professional poker player, reached the final of the 2015 BBC New Comedy Awards. Leila Navabi, 22, has been a writer and producer on Bameshow, Newsjack and BBC Wales show The Tourist Trap.

The first of the weekly 11-minute episodes of Don’t Blame Me, Blame My Brain  airs on CBBC at 5.15pm this Wednesday and investigates ‘What would happen if you never went to sleep?’
