Mat Horne pens chase comedy

TV series Loose now in development

Gavin and Stacey star Mat Horne has written a comedy series about a Wall Street trader on the run after losing a fortune on the market.

The central character’s wife is a high-powered district attorney with a chronic gambling addiction, and they have a disabled child.

Horne, also known for playing the grandson of Catherine Tate’s racist Nan, is working with actor-turned-screenwriter Christopher Adlington on the project, entitled Loose.

He told Hollywood website Deadline: ‘The show is a fast-paced comedy about a man who’s got everything to lose, and does. Loose charts his fall and rise, as he finds himself – in the face of major adversity – becoming the father he never knew he wanted to be.’

It is being developed by Northern Irish production company Fired Up Films, whose co-founder Simon Howley told the website the script made him laugh out loud.

‘As a company, we have been more about factual drama than comedy, but then sometimes a project arrives which is too good to pass on,’ he said.
