Two And A Half Men's Berta dies at 77
Conchata Ferrell, who played housekeeper Berta in American sitcom Two And A Half Men has died at the age of 77.
Star Charlie Sheen paid tribute to the actress, describing the late star as 'an absolute sweetheart, a consummate pro [and] a genuine friend'.
Describing her death as a 'shocking and painful loss', he added on Twitter Berta, your housekeeping was a tad suspect, your 'people' keeping was perfect.'
Co-star Jon Cryer also hailed the star, who most people knew by her nickname 'Chatty'.
He said: 'She was a beautiful human, Berta's gruff exterior was an invention of the writers. Chatty's warmth and vulnerability were her real strengths. I'm crying for the woman I'll miss, and the joy she brought so many."
Ferrell played housekeeper Berta throughout the show's 12-year history, picking up two Emmy nominations on the way.
As well as numerous stage roles, her TV credits also include ER, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Grace and Frankie.
Her agent Judith Moss said: 'I started my long journey with Conchata Ferrell in 1975. What started as an agent/client relationship grew into a long-lasting friendship, and I consider her family. Her work and being in front of an audience was always her joy. Conchata’s talent, laughter and smart, quick wit that she brought to her characters and her life will be greatly missed.'
Ferrell moved into a care home several months ago after suffering a cardiac arrest, it has been reported.
